Nail of the Day

I've been away for so long! I'm sorry to have been so rubbish at keeping up!

Thought I'd ease myself back in gently with a simple nail post! I have to admit, I haven't attempted to rock 'stick-on' nails since I was about 15... But thought I'd give it another go with these Classic French Manicure short versions from Nailene.

And against a white background...

Looking at these pics, I probably should have moisturised my cuticles first... Doh! I quite like them though, and once you're used to them, you really can't feel them - you just have to be carfeul when digging out credit cards or opening cans of Diet Coke...

The Balenciaga Yellow Leather Jacket

Apologies for the lack of posting lately. I've just been on a MEGA month long tour! We started off in Moscow, then went to Dubai for a week, then toured around the States and Canada and finished off with a little sneaky week in New York City!

While in New York I visited Barneys and happened to stumble across the Balenciaga section. As some of you may know I have a slight obsession with Balenciaga leather jackets and I COMPLETELY fell in love with this yellow (official colour name is Moutarde). Sadly I had to walk away as I simply don't have the funds but it was fun sneaking photos as I pretended to convert Dollars into Pounds..!

The leather was so smooshy, wrinkly and textured. And the colour a perfect blend of sunshine, buttercup, egg yolk and mango! Just delicious...sigh... Maybe one day!

Current Favourite Looks

At the moment, I'm trying to decide on the sort of thing that I want to wear onstage. Of course, in true Jo fashion - everything is embellished!

Here are some of the things I'm leaning towards...

This pic is from the All Saints website. I love the boots here! Also that the detailing is on the skirt while the top is really simple.

Another All Saints pick. I love their dresses. So feminine but with a tough edge.

I know it's been around for a while now but I really love the "boyfriend jeans with a blazer" look too.

I like the length of these...

This pic is from the Style Tips 101 website. Love the statement necklace. I'd probably look for a dressier jacket though. Maybe something more like this one from Alice and Olivia...?

Decisions, decisions!

The Glamour of Gloves

There is something so elegant about gloves.

No, I don't mean the woolly, wintery, Christmas kind! (Although there's a very special place in my heart for those too!) I mean proper ladies dress gloves.

Think Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's or Sabrina... Fabulous.

It's actually my birthday today and I'm in Lisbon with my family (I'm half Portuguese) and my father took me to one of Lisbon's most treasured little boutiques - The Glove Shop.

This shop is delightful. It has been around since 1925 and is just a tiny little doorway in the middle of one of Lisbon's most crowded streets.

The owner, fully kitted out in a suit, just takes one swift glance at your hands and knows exactly what size you are. The selection of gloves this shop carries is stunning. Gloves in gorgeous buttery leather in every colour combination you can think of.

To try the gloves on, you place your elbow on a little cushion while he works the gloves onto your hands. They are soooooo soft and feel so luxurious! I ended up coming out with two pairs! A butterscotchy-caramel coloured suede pair with navy blue leather accents and a classic white leather pair with little buttons on the cuffs.

Here are the caramel coloured gloves. I think the contrast of the suede with
the smooth blue leather is lovely, and so unusual!

And the beautiful white ones:

The leather immediately starts shaping itself to the shape of your hands when wearing them. I think the suede pair will be quite versatile. But I'll have to be careful with the white - not only to keep them clean but I'll also have to wear them with something quite feminine and girly, in order to avoid looking like a magician!

I think I'll aim for this type of thing:

Time to dig out the high waisted pencil skirts methinks!

Boots of the Month

The Zara Studded High Heel Boots

I've absolutely loved wearing these throughout December! Like everything else in my wardrobe they are embellished with little studs, but they have a slightly unusual shape which is what first attracted me to them.

They have been so much more useful than I ever thought they would be. I most definitely did not buy them for their practicality but, to my surprise, they are SO comfy. You simply pull them on, no faff. And I can literally wear them all day.
